Mrs. G--with the kids' crazy activities schedules I've recently had to become better acquainted with my slow cooker. I'll certainly bookmark this blog. My only gripe with the slow cooker--having to smell the food cooking all day (before I leave for gymnastics, karate, etc...) After smelling something for that long, the thought of eating it is nauseating to me. (too much of a good thing maybe?)

I love using my slow cooker and I'm always looking for new recipes. Thanks! I have bookmarked this site. I will spend some time this weekend exploring it.

Littlemama, I do understand where you're coming from with the smell. It's so strong and present for hours, you can feel full before eating!

I do like the convenience of it, though, and I certainly go in waves of using it and then forgetting about it. I'll have to check these out.

Littlemama:
One of my friends always puts hers in the garage to cook... it helps!

I've been flirting with the idea of getting a slow-cooker for years and have still never made the leap. Maybe someday!

I wish I had a garage...that would solve the overpowering smell problem!

My ridiculous smell issues still won't stop me from using my slow cooker. It beats coming home at 7pm and having to put together some kind of presentable meal.

i have a slow-cooker that was "rescued" when an American family moved back to the states...i used it only once or twice. my husband was a bit more than just a little freaked out about that whole "let it cook all day long" idea...."but, what if it burns the house down?". he kept at it for so long that it started to freak ME out!!
i need to get it out again and see if i can change his mind about it....sure would make some of my evenings a lot nicer to come home to!!
thanks, mrs.G.

debKuroiwa - Your refrigerator runs all day and hasn't burned down the house. The furnace runs when no one is at home, and voila - warm, not roasted house! Really - I've used my slow cookers for 35 years. Never burned down a house yet.
